As many of you know, I am a nanny and film student. I will be retiring from child care in August after four years in the service (ha). My school schedule will no longer allow me to pick up the kids on time and stay with them. I am deeply saddened to leave this family. They are the most kind people that I have worked for and I have grown very attached to them. Anyway, this past month I have been alternating weeks of my nanny job with my sister. She will be going to college in August and really needs to start saving up so I offered to let her work for my family so I can also have some time off which has been great and I have had great opportunities during that time off.
My dream has always been to work in the film industry, and as many of you know the industry in Atlanta has been growing for quite some time now. Back in March, I was an extra for The Vampire Diaries which was a dream come true. I really like that show and Ian Somerhalder (every woman needs a sweet guy like that) After that, I really wanted to be an extra again, but my school schedule and work schedule would not permit to do so. This summer during my time off, I have been an extra in two feature films; Solace and the remake of Endless Love. SUCH A DREAM COME TRUE!!! JESUS! I don't care about my screen time, but seeing how movies are filmed and seeing huge actors do their job is amazing!! I've seen Anthony Hopkins, Alex Pettyfer, Abbie Cornish, Robert Patrick, and Joely Richardson. I've made lots of friends that have similar aspirations like mine and I have also made friends that are on the crew. Something that made me feel very special was the fact that the wardrobe lady from Vampire Diaries (Edee) recognized me on the set of Solace and asked if I had worked with her before. Such a kind lady!
After being an extra in these movies, I have come to a realization that I do not want to work in post production, I want to be on set and see the action happen. I either want to be an actress/producer/director or all of them haha. I will update you guys on my other activities as an extra that I am sure will come this summer.
